Each weekday, theRams.com will be taking a look around the internet for the top Rams headlines of the day. Here’s a look at what’s out there for Monday, April 15 about your Los Angeles Rams.
GURLEY A ‘FOCAL POINT’
Head coach Sean McVay was asked about the status of his star running back Todd Gurley during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show last week.
Gurley missed the final two weeks of the regular season in 2018, leading up to the Rams’ first-round bye as he dealt with a knee issue at the end of year four, but McVay says he expects the league’s touchdown leader to be a big piece of his offense once again in 2019.
“You can expect Todd to be a focal point of our offense going forward… He’s in a good place, he’s feeling good and will continue to be a central piece of our offense and I don’t see that changing,” McVay said on last week’s show.
Gurley took 246 carries for 1,251 yards and 17 rushing touchdowns in 2018. He averaged 9.8 yards per reception on 59 catches for 580 yards and four touchdowns.
RETURN TO STARDOM
Wide receiver Cooper Kupp landed on a Bleacher Report list of injured NFL players who will return to stardom in 2019. BR’s Maurice Moton says Kupp is set up for a strong return to the field after he went down with a torn ACL in Week 10 against the Seahawks, because of the strides the young wideout was making in year two.
“Assuming Kupp suits up for a full season, he'll continue to shine within McVay's innovative offense. Kupp improved his catch rate from 66 percent to 72.7 percent between his rookie and second terms. He's also tied with fellow wideout Robert Woods for most touchdown receptions (11) on the team over the last two seasons.”
Kupp led the Rams in touchdown receptions when he went down Week 10.
