After a quick review the lack of depth on the DL seem quite big. Brockers being able to play all the positions helps some but it should be a priority on draft day. OL has a bunch of unknowns as depth and 2 new starters so that seems like a big issue too. I don't really see any other positions that are a must have for 2019 so I suspect that the other picks will be focused on 2020 like CB.
I think the would like 2 DL and 2 OL and a CB or 2 and a TE. To get all of that they will need to trade down and get some extra picks. Anyway these are my initial thoughts after all the Free Agency smoke has cleared.
I agree with your needs list. In fact, I think the Rams have set things up this way based on the strength of the draft.
Basically DL depth, OL depth, and as many 2020 needs as can be addressed from BPA.
I would add one big need though: an explosive offensive player. McVay mentioned that last week and at first I thought no way they’re serious but the more I think about it, the more I believe that’s how they’re trying to set things up.
With the Bortles and Matthews signings, it seems to me they want to be free to draft BPA with their premium picks including possibly that 1st round pick. That just may be where the explosive player comes from.
They have interviewed Devin Singletary twice and had a private workout. He’s got the balance and elusiveness of Kamara. With Gurley’s mysterious issues, this may happen.
Needs summary: Explosive player, DL depth, OL depth, and 2020 needs.
