QB talent is usually pretty apparent...even if they are young or inexperienced....were slow to reach their ability.
KWarner is near the only QB that no one saw coming....even tho he did great in the other league...
he still wasn't particularly seen as anything more than a back-up QB...instead he's a HoFer....very rare indeed.
I thought KurtWarner was a gamer...but NOTHING nearly what he would become!!! Same with Bulger...he executed Martz's offense really well.
I saw Trent Green and knew he was special...in fact, I think if he was healthy and never injured the Ram,s woulda had the same dynasty.
Trent went to KC and did really well there.
I digress...as usual! Anyway, i think QB talent is apparent, for the most part, but folks CAN get fooled.....especially schemes can bring out & maximize a QBs skillset. romo's another example of a guy that really grew into himself from being "just another arm". It can happen...it's just super rare. imo
Like I think Bortles could...
could be....
maybe...an Alex Smith type....a QB that can thrive when inserted into a scheme friendly offense that makes throws easy for him. McVay will be the reason why. Just like what Shanny did in SanFran with all 3 QBs...Jimmy, CJ, Mullins....they all looked good in that system cuz he makes if QB friendly.
