If Mannion is really not going to make the cut and can't make it in the NFL, is there somebody else who has never played that the Rams could go with.
Like to go with an unknown versus somebody who has been consistently bad.
I don't agree that the idea of a backup quarterback is to limp into a win here or there. It needs to be somebody that may be able to be a top tier starter some day if given the chance.
Always go with the unknown versus going with the known when the known is bad play.
What football utopia are you living in???
There isn't even 32 starting QB's that are able to be top tier starters in this league. Most teams have a young mid round guy(like Mannion was) or a vet who has experience as a starter(like Bortles) as their backup, I think if Sean McVay really thought Mannion was a better option than Bortles, he'd still be here instead of Bortles.... I'm gonna defer to McVay on this one.
You keep saying Bortles was consistently bad, which is not really the case... he did have a 35 TD year and also took his team to an AFC championship game in another. You don't do that by being "consistently bad"
It also will help him going to a real offense like it did for Goff when he came from Fishers middle school offense.
