Bortles has been a bad QB for 5 solid years
Other than our coach being able to coach players up, what makes anybody think he is our best choice for a backup QB?
The way I look at it is some unknown backup who has never played has a better chance of being a good QB versus somebody that has been bad for 5 straight seasons.
I do not get the logic. The only think that I can think of is that people have the mindset of being "less bad" versus having the mindset of "Being Better". The bottom line unless you are a team like the superbowl Bears, Ravens, or Bucs, you better look for a QB that can win games versus a QB that is "Less Bad".
I don't think the Rams team make-up is like those Bears, Ravens, Bucs teams. I say, go with the unknown and save the money for other positions!
Bortles played very well in stretches in both 2015 and 2016 when he had healthy weapons...
threw 35 TDs in 2015....
he's not great..
but he's shown some effectiveness when he had healthy weapons ...certainly enough to be a back up under a solid offensive coaching staff
