Thanks Deadpool
I just think they are going to have to take a CB in either round 3 or 4.
Any thoughts on a trade down and talking Simmons who may be back mid season.
Anyway great work .
CBs are tough for me personally to put a round value to. Typically good CBs in college don't get targeted as much (or in the case of really good ones never) and since I'm a hack amateur, I only watch some guys for 1 game or parts of different games. I have never watched 5-6-7 games of prospects unless they are on a national power I happen to catch. So if they don't get targeted, they aren't on screen. if they aren't on screen, how do you evaluate their movement, fluidity, ball skills, spacing in a zone...Its tough and I rely more on the combine drills then regular scouts. And that sucks because they aren't in live action and no pads of helmets. So I always feel like I over-value guys, or I completely ignore them and under-value them because I'm afraid of going all gaga over a 5 min. of combine skill drills. Thats why I love the Senior bowl practices.
So as far as a CB in the 3rd or 4th. Sure, but I like Mike Jackson's skill set fit and size fit in a Talib role for this defense in a year with some coaching, more then I like some of the 3rd or 4th round guys, just because they are a little more NFL ready today.
I really like Simmons, and I could see him being a replacement for Brockers next season and he has the ability to be a dynamic pass rusher beside AD in Wade's 1 gap 34. The issue is do you spend a first round draft pick on a guy that might not help you compete for a SB when you are in the middle of a SB window?
My biggest hope TBH is to pray Sweat or Burns somehow slips into the 20s and the Rams go after 1 of them.
