Really appreciate the conflicted notions about what may transpire for us early, and how the front office negotiates through them.
To me, it thoroughly makes sense to use our #31, and then trade up from round 3 back into round 2.
The cost might be high, but for instance, the need for TE is not dire. The need for a couple of defensive box guys, and a plug n play OL sure makes it easier in my mind to sell off draft picks.

The only question is about the tight end.The question is not about Dax.
It's whether the TE spot needs another body as of right now.
Or if the need is high enough to pull the trigger mid round?
