I'm not funky, or angry, or anything of the like Speed. I think it's great that you can keep yourself objective about your team. But I find the bumping to be a bit over the top.
For most of us we're gonna be right and wrong. Everyone bumping their correct takes falls in "douche" territory in my opinion at least. But carry on with your bad self my man.
I see what you’re saying, Merlin, because it could appear that Speed is doing a touchdown dance with time already expired on the clock, but this article has some elements to consider. In fact, the article could be a season too late.
Premise of the article: Lynch and Shanahan have been reckless with free agent signings and trades.
This year (and please let no one be shy to correct me if I’m wrong) they have no 2nd, 3rd or 4th round picks. If my memory is right, I think they have just one pick (their 1st) in the top 158 selections.
In a draft rich in receivers —unless they get lucky and Jerry Jeudy or CD Lamb falls to them 1/31–then that’s putting the team in a poor spot at a position to can enable them to get to the next higher level of perfection.
As for their salary cap situation and UFA, their situation is pretty close to the Rams where some starters will be lost. OT, DT, RB, LB, S.
So, I welcome any opposition to the author’s premise. Will the 49ers win the division and secure the top seed in the upcoming season? Or have Lynch and Shanahan handcuffed themselves from a repeat?
What do you think, Speed?
