I think it's a crazy bet. Counting on a third and a fourth rounder with little to no experience to start is just crazy. Can you imagine if ANYONE on the line gets injured?

Yea, Imagine having a 3rd round pick starting on your Oline with little to no experience, I mean, would you trust a 3rd year player who was only a backup and special teams player to come in and start?

In 1976 Jackie Slater was a 3rd round pick, he spent 3 years as a backup and mainly special teams player until he was asked to start for a team that went to the Super Bowl he turned out to be pretty good with 7 pro bowl invites.

Rich Saul drafted in the 8th round in 1970, was a reserve lineman for 4 years then started in 1975. went to 6 pro bowls.

Doug Smith, Undrafted, backup for 4 years. 6 pro bowls

Basically what I am saying is it truly does not matter where anyone is drafted or even if they were drafted. There is a long history of players becoming stars who were late round picks or even not drafted at all, all that truly matters is that they can play the game, and can take what they are taught and translate it to game day.

I choose to put my faith in Kromer on this. If he feels these kids can start and play up to standard then I am going to give him and these young men the chance to prove it.

Its ok if you choose to not feel the same way. smiling smiley

Depth will be added through the draft. I expect to see at least 2 more drafted.

You are using some of the NFL's best ever to make a point. The counter is obvious the chances of 3rd and 4th rounders making an impact on the OL is as the title states. It's a gamble. What's more, none of those greats that you mentioned began their starting career at the same time, right next to the other.

Gambling on success is a fools game. As I mentioned, put aside the idea of two 3rd and 4th round ol beginning their starting career at the same time. What happens if they or anyone else on the line gets injured? The season is probably over.

Obviously they will add some more pieces but relying on kid OL to anchor your line in a super bowl run is crazy.
