I just didn't care for the decision. Fowler is a Ram and I will rally round him, but not taking care of the Oline was Martz cardinal sin and the reason behind the GSOT's rapid demise. In Jamon Brown's best year what did he do? Start 16 games for the # 1 offense in the NFL. What did Saffold do? Start basically 32 games for the no doubt #1 offense over the last 2 years. In Fowler's best year he did what? I am not even sure which year would be considered his best, yet he's the one we kept and they are the ones we lost. Forgive just taking losing Saffold worse this time than last time.
I agree with some things you say, but the difference between Martz and Snead/McVay when it comes to the OL is not that Martz neglected it or didn't try to take care of it. He did try. The Martz Rams drafted badly in general but especially on the OL---and that includes Kline, Noa, St. Clair, Scott, Tercero, Turner, Terrell, Incognito, and Barron. 8 tries in 6 drafts, and the best they did was Incognito (head case) and Barron (underachiever).
In contrast, the Snead/ McVay Rams--with Kromer heavily contributing--seem to be much better at drafting OL.
We'll see about Allen and Noteboom, but one of the best OL coaches in the league likes both of them, so again we'll see.
