McVay caved to this public pressure of old school footbal

February 16, 2019 11:34AM
Run it one first down and pass it on 3rd down and depending what happens on 1st down, you alter on 2nd down.

Finally, in the 2nd half he broke the pattern and used first down as an opportunity to pass the ball and the team was much better. Had the Rams made those 2 end zone plays, the Rams would have been superbowl champs. The Rams also got screwed on a phantom holding penalty.

In the game against the Saints, he abandoned the run sooner and scored on the last possession on the first half and did well in the 2nd half to win that Saints game. This game, he stayed with the old Run, ?, Pass pattern too long and it allowed the patriots to come with all of these pass rush looks on 3rd down.

The offense has been a tremendous success with McVay doing it his way and we have fans wanting to go back to traditional style that got us 0 playoff appearances in 20+ years.

Think about it

1990 - 1998 - 0 playoff appearances in 9 seasons doing it the way fans want it, the traditional style of football

1999 - 2004 - 5 playoff appears in 6 years doing it the Martz way

2005 - 2016 - 9 playoff appearances in 12 seasons going back to traditional

2017 - 2018 - 2 playoff seasons in 2 years going back to Martz style of football

that is 0-21 doing it the Fans way

and 7-8 doing it the Martz/McVay way

McVay caved to public pressure instead of staying the course and it cost him the superbowl. Don't follow some textbook formula what each play should be. Create space on offense with both the running game and passing game and be deceptive and unpredictable.

it leads to the 7 out of 8 playoff appearance results..
