With the Los Angeles Rams now officially in offseason mode, they have started to make some changes to the coaching staff.

According to The LA Times, the Rams are bringing on Wes Phillips as their new tight ends coach. Wes is the son of Rams defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, and also has a history with head coach Sean McVay.

When McVay was promoted to offensive coordinator from tight ends coach with the Washington Redskins in 2014, Wes was the one who replaced him. Wes was also considered a replacement for offensive coordinator when McVay left for Los Angeles, and some players actually thought he reminded them of McVay.

“He reminds me the most of Sean," former Redskins tight end Logan Paulsen said during a 2017 interview with ESPN 980. "He’s a younger guy, he’s a big picture thinker about football, and I think he’s ready for the position despite his age.”

Shane Waldron, who has been the tight ends coach for the Rams the past couple of years as well as the passing-game coordinator, will now take over for Zac Taylor as the quarterbacks coach. According to Albert Breer, the Rams also plan to hire an assistant quarterbacks coach to work with Waldron in 2019. He will also retain his title as the passing-game coordinator.
