no one is going to agree with me on Everett...
But he just isn't physical enough.
I wish we had that chart of where players catch passes.
Everett, this is as much as I'll admit, has limited talent on the outside. But, we have the outside covered...so he really isn't all that valuable.
Everett is not the prototypical TE I'm talking about.
He's not a guy who commands attention inside the numbers...he's just not.
We need a real TE...not a hybred...big receiver. When has Everett ever caught a deep ball over the middle? Two years...find one...
We keep saying Everett is our Jordan Reed. Well...he's not. He's not that good and now even Jordan Reed appears to be a has been.
We need Ertz, Kelce, Olsen, Kittle type TE who commands some attention...a guy who can stretch the middle to help the WRs in the underneath routes...a big Red Zone target (a complaint of mine for which I caught a lot of grief here), and a guy who Goff can go to down the middle of the field that gives him some room for error with a big frame.
We MUST improve in the red zone...it's not a wish...it's a must.
Goff's development would be greatly enhanced by a guy in the middle. We don't have it...and Everett may be a 30 catch guy, but he is not a TE in my world...he's a big WR who can catch a pass from the numbers to the sideline...something we have plenty of in Woods, Reymolds, Kupp and Cooks.
And...as for Everett being a violent runner...I saw one play all year that supports that. I would say the opposite...he seems to go down fairly easy.
Everett is short for a TE...Everett is light for TE...is this really what we expected out of a 2nd round pick? I gotta laugh...Reynolds catches more crap on this board as a 4th rounder than Everett does as a 2nd round and Reynolds has become 3-4 times the player. I just don't get it.
