I agree with most of that.

Have to say that I’m not even lukewarm on signing Clay Matthews, though. He’s a formerly great player, but he’s well past his prime and we can get better bang for our buck elsewhere, I think. Our starting roster on both O and D is littered with players that were not formerly once great players. I’d much rather find another.

And while I agree with delaying a Goff extension, I must say that the thought of trading him for picks is madness. His floor is at LEAST franchise QB level for another 12+ years. And nobody yet knows just how high his ceiling might be. Such players should NEVER be traded at this stage of their career.

I don’t think anybody wants to get back on that QB searching treadmill anytime soon. Shudder...
