I think for me it’s that he has looked so bad when things don’t go well
I mean he completely falls apart
Is that true? He didn't come back against the Saints twice on the road? (Though they lost one). They also came back from down late in 2 tough wins over Seattle. Green Bay too.
Whatever the 2017 Vikes game, and the 2018 Chi, Phil, and Patz games have in common, I don't think it gets down simply to Goff not looking good when things don't go well. (Also remember in those games the relatively green McVay is facing accomplished cagey older veteran D coordinators---Fangio, Schwartz. BB ).
In fact given ALL the things that didn't go well in those games (no run, OL struggling, high percentage of pressure, unexpected coverages and other surprises, playcaller not adjusting the way a veteran playcaller would)...
I think most if not all qbs would be less effective under those conditions. Particularly a young one.
The best qb IMO playing now who still plays well under that kind of duress is Wilson, and the Rams have sometimes even turned him into less than himself.
Having said all that...I;m just making a case. It's completely expected that different people would see all this differently. And needless to say, those differences are not just expected, they're fine (obviously) So I am not doing a "be a real Rams fan Goff-hater!" kind of thing. Just making a case for a different view. I respect the differences. I know you know that but now and then it's useful to wave the "respect differences" flag for the sake of a stray reader or 2.
