I can't agree. In fact, I just attached something (I can't get the photo to link) where I believe that our multi million dollar WR should have caught two dropped TDs.
That isn't to take away from a down night.....but he got pressured on over 70% of the snaps. Bad play calling and bad line play added to his bad night.
But I'm sure not thrilled with Cooks dropping TDs that were right in his hands. Yes, under duress....but in his hands.
Someone said the two Cooks plays were 50/50 balls....Irvin stands up yelling...
.those are 80/20 balls if Michael Irvin is the WR....it's 50/50 if it's Cooks.
He was adamant that those two have to be caught.
He's right....they were tough plays, but top level WR's would make those plays.
On the 70% pressure number....here's the actual numbers:
The Patriots' defense pressured Goff on 38 percent of his dropbacks, and the young quarterback finished 3-of-12 when under duress. That's tied for the worst completion percentage for any QB that threw at least 10 passes under pressure in a Super Bowl. Meanwhile, the Rams only pressured Brady on 14 percent of his dropbacks.
I think the 70% number came from Polian saying:
I estimated the Pats line was winning at the snap of the ball about 70% of the time, which is amazing. That doesn't equate to pressure....they were just getting a jump on the Rams O-line on most snaps, in his estimation.
Another amazing stat--
On the night, 45 percent of the Rams' 60 plays went for zero or negative yards -- the second highest percentage for the Rams in a game this season, after their 15-6 loss to the Bears in Week 14.Also, the Rams only ran 22 plays in the first half (aside from special teams plays) vs. 44 for NE.
They had 6 drives in the first half that all ended in punts.
They started the first 5 drives with running plays. People say they should have run more, but they weren't having much success running and when you're not getting first downs you're not running very many plays.
