Brown is a RFA and the tender for him would be about $2.03M. As is someone else may come in and give him an offer. Maybe not. Or do the Rams just decline the RFA tender and try to sign him to a lesser (and maybe two-year) deal? Or, maybe they just turn to Anderson and offer him a two-year deal.
Any way you look it it I have a really hard time seeing the Rams keep both. Brown did well for them before his injury. CJ was obviously a huge boost. Maybe the compensatory pick issue with CJ comes into play because if someone comes in and offers him a decent contract they could net another 2020 comp pick and the Rams definitely seem to be playing the game the Ravens and Patriots have for years of trying to accrue compensatory picks (especially now that you can trade them).
Brown turns 26 in May while CJ just turned 28 yesterday.
Agreed, 93. Rams must choose between them.
Both are highly effective RB’s when Gurley needs a blow.
Both are low mileage, so age shouldn’t be a factor.
Both should be affordable.
Both are adept blockers and pass receivers.
Both are great teammates.
Not sure that there’s a “wrong” choice here.
