Because if the Rams get that run game going Goff will absolutely shred their secondary. Belichick has zero choice but to focus on the run game first then adjust from there.
So IMO look for McVay to involve Gurley in a lot of underneath routes and screen actions early on to try to scheme him open in space. I also expect him to repurpose that dual screen the Saints ran against us in the NFC championship, with Gurley/Everett as the options. It will surprise me if he doesn't anticipate Belichick's focus and have TG ready to rock and roll.
