Gotta RULE question.. did things change?

I don't know why this is stuck in my head but I seem to remember that on a turnover in the end zone... if you made a move to advance the ball and didn't get out of the end zone it was a safety. Am I wrong, was this never true. I would SWEAR it used to be that way but maybe no?

don't misunderstand... if the impetus was the ball into the end zone that was NEVER a safety, obviously... but once you intentionally proved impetus to the ball OUT of the end zone.???
