Down 13-3 before half, the Rams passed 6 straight times before the Gurley touchdown to cut the lead to 13-10.
The Run game was simply being stuffed and McVay does what he does, do what is necessary to move the ball.
Other than the first play in the 2nd half when he tried a running play with Woods that blew up the first drive of the 2nd half, he stayed with not forcing the run and just mixed enough runs in there to keep the Saints a little honest and after only putting up those 3 points early put up 23 points from that point forward.
The final was:
16 - carries for Anderson
4 - carries for Gurley
40 pass attempts for Goff
It is simple math.. You have to get 10 yards to keep getting more plays and
16 for 44 was 2.7 yards per carry
4 for 10 was 2.5 yards per carry
Forcing the running game would have been the equivalent of punting the game away.
