The wind was bad and got worse. That game was ALL the Bears D and weather. The Bears O did very little. Rams shut down Payton. I still recall watching the end of that game in Jan 1986, just a couple of weeks from me leaving to USAF Boot Camp on 3 Feb 1986. Even then, I was thinking....ANY passing game and that game is much closer. I also think had the Patriots not upset the Dolphins, there's a DARN GOOD chance they Phins win the Super Bowl. As I watched that missed pass to Ron Brown, it was clear such plays were THE answer to the 46 D. It was frustrating to see the miss in the 1st qtr and NOBODY on the Rams picked up on it. Heck, I have been amazed nobody after the Bears / Phins Monday nighter that nobody pick up on that. Bears were ALWAYS jamming the line with all but 1 or 2 guys.....INVITING slants.
