Alyo mentioned this observation few years ago...and I'm starting to really see it now.
Pass rushers are effective against RTs also....and the thot that the LT needs to be the best pass protector still holds true. imo
The difference between LT & RT is minimal now.
In fact, one could make an argument that it's actually BETTER to have the rusher on the RT - in full view of the QB. Why? Cuz that means the QB can see him and the rush and will start moving up to avoid it....thus making just a strong rush more effective against a QB even if he doesn't get home. Whereas, a blindside rush is outta sight of the QB and less likely to spook him. I think the best benefit of a blindside rush is the potential for a strip sack...otherwise, I want the opposing QB to see the pass rusher to panic him a bit & speed up his internal clock.
Anyway, RTs have to be great pass blockers too...maybe even the same as a LT.
