I had a weird feeling this could be a tough one. Cold weather, on the road against a team that needed a win after a stinker. I am frustrated with the run game and the return of "year 1 deer in the headlights" Goff. But look at everything that went wrong and they were in it at the end. McVay needed this. And so did the defense.
As for McVay:
1. TG3 with 6 carries and 6 yards. That cannot happen.
2. Why run play action, without the fear of running? If you are going to pass, pass pass, get into shotgun.
3. Teams are going to adjust to McVays offense. He needs to adjust as well.
4. Kicking redzone FGs finally bit McVay in the rump. He HAS to solve it. This might be a wakeup call.
As far as the defense:
1. They couldn't rely on the offense to bail them out.
2. Robey and Peters gained some much needed confidence.
3. Fowler is getting better each game.
The Rams were in this game despite a dumb kickoff return and penalty that cost a safety, 4 interceptions, no run game, injuries at LG and OC for a bit being on the road across a couple of time zones in subzero weather. I'll chalk this up as a learning experience to grow from.
