SB 14 I had tears coming down my face (9th grade). I live in PA, SO MANY Steeler fans. But, I was at SB 36, 9th row opposite end of winning FG. The whole game was a nightmare. I remember when the field goal went through, I turned to my friend and said, "If you want to stay around that's fine, if not, let's get the @#$%& out of here." We left, I was walking out of the stadium beside a guy and he just kind of looked at me and shrugged as to say "oh well". The man was on his cell phone and he said to whoever he was talking to, "You ought to see the look on the face of the guy beside me!", and just kind of grinned. That guy was Eric Dickerson...….
I went back to my hotel, sat on chair, never went to bed, had to be at the airport very early next morning. Still had all my Rams stuff on (Rams hat, Warner jersey, Rams coat) and from time I left the hotel until I arrived home, NOBODY said a single word to me about the game, I must have looked that miserable.
I remember, my eldest son was dialing around the TV the NFL opening day of the next season. He stops on ESPN or something just as Vinatieri is making the field goal, and moments after, there I am plain as day on the TV a few rows above a sign that reads "Silence Of The Rams". I remember the Pats fans in front of me who had it. Have never seen it since and hopefully never will.
I guess in many ways, that is why I don't get too mad during games anymore, nothing will top that moment for disappointment, anger, disgust, and pain. It was the ultimate low. I always hated losing more than I ever enjoyed winning. That is sad on my part, but just the way I am.
