Packers fans have always been highly dedicated. That is a factor.
But the biggest factor that's changed is the affordability and availability of cross-country travel. The "real price" (i.e., adjusted for inflation) of airfare dropped 50% from the mid-1970's to mid 2010's.
I would guess that hotel prices have also seen a relative drop in price.
