just a couple of games ago I posted that I thought the D problems were mostly 'player' related.. this after a string of games in which the 'tackling' was incredibly bad.
Today... I just don't know, I'm leaning Wade... scheme. But even there I'm lost... certainly Wade knows more than us, sees more than us... yet we're into week 11 and perhaps I'm missing it but our D seems improved not in the least.
This week someone posted about Suh and Donald worried too much about sacks... that 'sounded' reasonable, but it doesn't work for me.
I don't have any answers at all.... I just have a hope.... I hope it's all Wade, (don't believe that but I hope it), because retooling the DC seems to me the far easier and quick remedy than retooling the players. - JamesJM
There's other possibilities.
Warning. Speculation coming...
1. Wade evacuated. This might just not be his best week. Plus they skipped a practice. Problems against the Saints are one thing, but allowing 270 yards rushing against Seattle is completely different. So maybe the Seattle game was all about this week. They were not ready. Other signs of not being ready--Goff had more inexplicable "way off" throws that normal (far more than any other game this year), so off in fact that those might be on the WR and not him. And of course all the stupid personal fouls.
2. IF Seattle is not just one unusually bad game because of circumstances, and it IS something deeper, there's this possibility---this is not Wade's defense. He's just a committee chair and figurehead and chief advisor but the younger guys gameplan and implement it. And they're not up to it. That explains things like using Peters in ways that do not fit what he is, even though Wade routinely says he doesn't ask players to do what they can't. So maybe Wade is more the head coach of the defense and not really the coordinator. OR...he is, and is losing his knack. One reason I speculate this direction (ie, it's either not WP's defense or he is slipping) is the number of players who were good before but all of a sudden, just aren't. Brockers, Joyner, Barron. Heck even Longacre was better last year.
3. More injuries than we realize. Why isn't Westbrooks on the field, for example? (He had only 16 snaps last game). Franklin had only 26. Brockers has not been himself all year. Maybe there's something to this?
4. All of the above plus more.
