Too often this defense is too slow to make adjustments. Too many examples of waiting until the second half. Against a team like the Saints.....you are in too deep a hole to make up the difference. Then...in crunch time....a mental breakdown to leave Peters (who was already struggling mightily) on single protection against Thomas. Not to mention that the coverage call got in too late....so Peters and others were still trying to get aligned by the time the ball was snapped. That's also on the coaching staff to get the coverage call in quick.
Wade can eventually figure things out to get the right scheme in place. But....it seems to be taking waaaaay too long for him to process and execute. And the D-unit seems to be caught napping in key moments. I am far from being an "age-ist". But....one has to wonder if Wade is "on his game' at this stage in his career.
Wade is a really nice guy....great person to have around. I just don't think he has it in him to navigate a D-unit at the speed needed. And it is costing this team mightily.
