Chris Harris Jr. says he'll 'check in' with Wade Phillips this offseason

The Los Angeles Rams already poached one member of the Broncos’ once-legendary ‘No Fly Zone’, Aqib Talib. Now it seems possible they could go after another, with Chris Harris Jr. sparking the buzz with his postgame comments to Rams defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. Phillips, of course, was the Broncos’ defensive coordinator during their Super Bowl run a few years back.



While Phillips was embraced and praised by numerous Broncos players after the game, Harris seemed especially happy to see his old coach. After hugging for a while, a smiling Harris can be heard saying “I’m gonna check in with you in the offseason” to Phillips.

Harris has just one year left on his contract after his season, and if the Broncos are rebuilding – which it looks like they will be – they could seek to trade him like they did Talib. The Rams gave up a fifth-rounder for Talib back in March.

Since Harris is considerably younger, the asking price for him would likely significantly higher. Judging by his comments, it certainly sounds like Harris would be interested in reuniting with Phillips. While it’s still a pretty big longshot, the idea of re-teaming Harris, Talib, and Phillips in Los Angeles is pretty fun to think about.

If nothing else, all the comments this week from guys like Harris and Von Miller just go to show how respected Phillips is by his players, and how lucky the Rams are to have him leading their defense. It was an incredibly shrewd move by Sean McVay to add him to his staff, and it’s paid off big time.
