My sarcasm reflects my sense of humor.
It doesn't stop anybody else from posting.
Discussing it in an appropriate manner is precisely the point.
IMO, the criticism today has been over the top. Not proportionate.
McVay is being characterized in ways that are almost insulting to him.
That just seems to me to be...ungrateful, frankly, to a guy who has done so many things right for this team.
There were down, distance, and field position situations where I would have preferred a run, and we passed instead.
That's an appropriate way to discuss it, I think.
Now I have argued against the "appeal to authority" that I've seen on the board in the past, where people would say "oh, I guess you think you know better than coach X, huh?" But some of that criticism was in the context of a losing team. Sometimes a badly losing team. That gives it more validity.
McVay's success ought to give his critics some pause, at the very least, shouldn't it? If he's really that wrong in his approach, how do the Rams keep winning?
Do people think we're getting lucky?
The same attitude that makes him pass when a lot of us would run, is the one that went for it on 4th down last week.
He's committed to being aggressive. Maybe to a fault, but we're the only undefeated team left, so maybe not.
And opponents just really do not know what he's going to do.
And as for his own comments, he'll just keep criticizing himself until the Rams are perfect. In other words, forever. That's his nature.
But as a guy who is just watching from my easy chair, and hasn't had a hand in any of this success I feel like I should be a little more circumspect.
I didn't like the preseason approach and said so. And now I'd say McVay was right.
No censorship. Post what you want. But don't expect it to be unchallenged. That would be censorship, too.
