In the NFL.

I have no clue where you get the belief that 3 elite QB's are drafted every year!

Ther are more high quality RB's taken than there are QB's, but more importantly they have a much reduced impact on the team.

My original comment was that the Giants probably messed up taking Barkley if Darnold turns out to be a high quality QB.

IMO, there is a distinction to be made between franchise QB and elite QB.

A franchise QB is one who teams are comfortable with having them run the team for the foreseeable future. Matt Ryan, Stafford, Derek Carr, etc.

An elite QB is someone like Brees, Brady, Rodgers, etc. I agree with you on the number of how many are elite in the league.

In determining that the last 3-4 drafts have brought an average of 3 QBs per year, I was counting franchise and elite players.

I invited the board to prove me wrong that lately franchise to elite QBs haven't been so hard to find in this thread here earlier today: (so far no takers)

Is QB currently the hardest position to acquire though?

In that post, I showed that from 2016-2018, there have been more very good QBs drafted than special WRs or RBs. Take a look, tell me why I'm wrong.

I feel that often people go with conventional wisdom and don't notice when the tide has turned.

History has shown that, if you want to be a winner in the NFL, you need to be on the cutting edge of current trends. We may be in the midst of one of those trends.

Curious, how do we define a franchise QB?

So Faulk wasn't an elite RB because he never topped the league in yards
