and I'll stand by it... Just a different game IMO.
You can still win with a solid defense and a great running game with a solid QB but its not like it was then.
A franchise QB like Brees, ughh Brady, Rodgers when healthy can win more games with less help than a once in a lifetime RB. Obviously your opinion differs greatly. No worries on this end.
Well there is a distinction to be made for an elite of the elite QB like the three you name and a franchise QB.
Franchise QBs are drafted every year. Matt Ryan. Stafford. Rivers. Newton. Luck. All are franchise QBs.
Given how frequently this caliber of QB is coming out in the draft, I'd take the once in a lifetime RB. But if we're talking Brees/Brady/Rodgers, clearly you go that route.
Well OK. And IMO we're not really arguing much of a difference. I would put one option at 1A and the other at 1B so its not like I'm pounding the table, lol... but still would choose 1A simply because it is a passing league now. I would take any of the QB's you mentioned because its so hard to win without a QB. You can get good RB production, even in the passing game, with a good RB. They are plentiful too. Its much tougher to win with an average QB. But we've seen it with Keenum and a strong running game and strong defense. Its still a valid strategy (See Fisher).
One other thing I would add is that a QB can play significantly longer and can, but certainly not always, actually be a staple for the team the longer they play. Goff could see another 3 or 4 starting RB's if he has a lengthy career. And the league seems to want to keep the QB's healthy so perhaps he has a better shot at that.
