""Because the guy has passion on the field??? He somehow will be incapable of being fine after football?!! Really? Wow!""
No, I do not draw my conclusion from the fact that he has "passion on the field." It has more to do with the attitude he communicates every time he opens his mouth. The guy is a jerk, and yeah, a punk. Also, how do you even claim that he has more or less passion than anyone else? Because he behaves poorly and foolishly on the field when things don't go his way often resulting in penalties that hurt the team? Who needs that kind of passion? I dont get the Peters apologists, he brings terrible character to the team, and so far his play has been terrible.
go rams.
How can someone claim he has more passion than anyone else?
McVay has stated numerous times regarding Peters that he LOVES football. That's passion! That's why McVay wanted him.
McVay has also said that a love for football is one of the key ingredients of character that he's looking for. When people were saying the Rams were adding players with bad character, McVay was saying the opposite.
He called Suh and Peters players that add good character to the team because what he's looking for primarily is players that love football and want to grow. Personality quarks isn't as big a deal.
So no, he doesn't bring terrible character to the team; at least not the type of terrible character that Snead and McVay feel is important.
Yeah all my questions about Peters are on the field.
And another smart good coach besides McVay is Reid, and he's more experienced than McVay, so, it means something that Reid let Peters go.
If Peters can get it together on the field that's what counts though.
I don't think Reid trusted that, either, so we will see.
....
Well, he has had some terrible moments on the field so far this year so to question his on-field performance is fair.
I think we have to keep in mind something that the Rams already knew: it's not a new thing for Peters to get burned occasionally for TDs due to gambling.
He's been burned for TDs several times over the last couple of years with KC from the same habits. This was noted on this board at the time we traded for him and by PFF. I think we were so giddy to get an elite CB that we didn't discuss any negatives much beyond character issues.
He's been categorized among the elite CBs because he's an elite play maker, not because he doesn't give up stuff. I know you know that he leads the league by far in INTs and pick 6's since he was drafted in 2015.
