It is the lowest performing position on the team, I agree. I'd have had no problem with them upgrading from Higbee in the offseason and I won't next offseason either. Higbee does block well which is why I think he's around.
I just argue that it's not holding them back as a team at all. It may down the road which is why investing in a better TE for 2019 and beyond would make sense. The offense will evolve over time and, who knows, maybe you draft a TE late in the 1st round next April so that should Kupp leave after 2020 or something that position is more of a primary target.
I've said this before but it fits here too.
I think McV used TEs in Washington because he had TEs.
They tried to do more with the TEs here but they don't have them. Their TEs are contributing role players. Some say with Everett it's the injuries, and that's certainly a factor, but I also don't think he has the makings of a top player. Just IMO.
Which is fine, the GSOT didn't really have much in the way of TEs either.
It's nice but then their 3 WR sets are pretty dominant in the passing game plus spread the field in the running game.
If the TEs don't add that much more, it's fine really.
