Since JG was traded to them, and they won 5 games at the end of last season, he has been hailed by niner and national media alike as some sort of 49er messiah. And it's all out of proportion to his actual numbers or to any duration of success.

This went on all offseason. Now that another year has started, there's nothing unusual about Ram fans checking out how that's been working for them.

What you call an "obsession" here is more a reaction to the obsession that others had for the guy.

Why would a Ram fan need that explained is my question.
