Because I've been a Goff guy from before the 2016 draft, I just want so badly for him to prove me right.
I want Goff to be perfect.
I want a Goff that can't be criticized.
I want Goff to hit every open receiver, every time.
And if there's more than one open receiver, I want him to always hit the one that's in best position to score.
I never, ever, want him to throw an interception, no matter how good the defensive backs he's facing are.
I never want him to be sacked. He should always see that coming and either burn the defense or throw it away, but never be sacked.
I want him to roll right or left with equal facility and make throws on the run that are just as on target as the ones where he's set.
I want him to be the acknowledged and unrivaled best QB in the league, leading in every positive category.
I want his playcalling and audibles to be so good that after a while, McVay starts listening to
him through the helmet instead of the other way around.
But I don't get to have the perfect Goff and since nobody's perfect, I never will
Ok, ok, I can't have that, but I still want the Hall of Fame Goff.
I want the Goff that leads the league in TD's multiple years.
That leads the league in QBR most years.
That wins multiple championships for the Rams.
The Goff that fans of other teams wish they all had.
The Goff that comes up big in every big game, and makes commentators say "If I could have one QB to win a game, give me Jared Goff".
The Goff that breaks every Ram QB'ing record.
Well, I don't have that Goff either. Not yet. Don't know if I ever will.
The Goff I have is the Goff of right now.
Most people would debate whether he's Top 10.
He's got a ways to go yet to be Top 5.
He sure isn't Top 1.
He still has some "what was that?" plays mixed in with the good stuff.
He hasn't really proven himself in clutch moments when it's do or die.
And you know what? I like him pretty well.
I like him better than any QB we've had for a long time.
I like watching him grow.
He's the Goff we have.
Ramily!
