my response to max was based on his comment that people notice Mahomes play yesterday and won't acknowledge Goff's more workman like day
I thought Goff was good yesterday... I want him to be great. I think he can get there but as max said 2 games is enough to get knock the rust off
Next week things get tougher

If Goff had done the following
1) Hit Cooks when he was on the run and gotten that pass over the Peterson for the TD rather than thrown the int
2) Hit Cooks in stride deep for the TD rather than forcing him to slow down and catch that 57 yarder
3) Had he hit Robert Woods wide open on that 4th down play for the easy TD
and there are other plays ... people would also be talking about Goff
Goff has to do his part if he wants to be mentioned with the best
I think the night Goff had, he did his part.
Right this minute, without being perfect, Goff is playing like he's among the best. I think Waldman mentioned him and Mahomes as his highest graded QBs this year...unless I'm mistaken and misheard that. If he's not getting that type of recognition from the masses, that's more on them and their slowness to recognize than on Goff.
He can do better for sure, there is room for improvement. But if he consistently did all of the things you're talking about, his name would change from Goff to Rodgers.
I'm all for having high expectations but let's keep it in perspective.
If he were our kid I bet the interpretation and expression of good not great would be a little different.
I get the angst and fear of each looming challenge. That is weekly in this league. Brady lost yesterday. Aaron Rogers tied with Cousins.
Its all relative and even with a subjective mindset of perfection on each play that applies to all aspects of the game. Big plays that may just be a result of good fortune. Ect. You credit a player for how consistently they benefit from personal effort and fortune and you take the wins.
