If Goff had done the following
1) Hit Cooks when he was on the run and gotten that pass over the Peterson for the TD rather than thrown the int
2) Hit Cooks in stride deep for the TD rather than forcing him to slow down and catch that 57 yarder
3) Had he hit Robert Woods wide open on that 4th down play for the easy TD
and there are other plays ... people would also be talking about Goff
Goff has to do his part if he wants to be mentioned with the best
To me it's not an issue of being mentioned with anyone or getting highlights plastered all over etc.
It's that his best skills, which ARE there in spite of some lingering inconsistency, are very subtle skills.
He is already making types of throws no other Rams qb has made.
But he also has some improving to do, through experience and so on. Notice no one ever denies that plus everyone says it.
The main point though is that in the meanwhile, he's showcasing some very signature stuff, and that's worth noting. I said this before but the problem with speaking up for Goff is that those signature skills show up in subtle things. Like perfectly placed line drives with eyes, a good pocket sense, that kind of thing. When he’s at his best he’s a surgeon. But it’s seldom big wow plays though in the end the effect is the same.
