Besides the fact that Pace didn't play as well those years after 2001 because of those holdouts and lived off his name, his holdouts impacted the entire team, especially the offensive line. Offensive lines build continuity and bond by working together. When your best guy, simply calls in sick because he can, that sets a bad tone for the team.
Pace never intended to sign contracts during those years, he was always going to sign the franchise tag and his holdouts were not about getting a fair contract, but just because he wanted the time off.
There was never any negotiations with faith during those years. He asked for some crazy salary knowing that there would be no way the Rams could pay that figure, hold out as long as possible, and then sign the franchise tag 1 year contract.
To boot, because he held out, he started having health issues and injuries that may not have happened started creeping in more and more.
It impacted the team and he should have been blackballed from the Hall of Fame for that approach.
