What bothered people is he underestimated the Rams and has a national platform to do it from.

All the rest...delivery style, tone, all that completely unimportant superficial stuff? It's nothing.

A national pundit undedestimated the Rams, so his entire career and value as a human being or his right to exist as lifeform, all get questioned.

It was the same through most of 99. People don't watch the Rams and certainly no national pundit watches all 16 games ever week.

In terms of taking joy at his failure, you can bet he hardly noticed or cared. He doesn't cover all 32 teams the way we know the Rams, he just made his next set of predictions and a couple of fans of different teams will also be upset by it.

And...nothing real happened.

Which is okay. I am not going to jump into every "mob a reporter for not seeing it like us" thread. And so bash away. Just taking a sec to say it's not everyone's cup of tea. Seems all over-reacty.
