Mannion is a capable backup. He is what most teams have behind their starter, better than some.
I really don't understand the concern about Mannion. I think we have a very good offensive line that will keep Goff from getting hurt, we have excellent running backs to take on a larger role in the offense if necessary and McVay has praised Mannion publicly more than once.
I am not going to lose any sleep of the backup QB position.
I know I'm in the minority here, but I also think Mannion will be fine with the starters. He actually came from a pro-style offense and played with Brandin Cooks in college for 3 years.
I think Mannion will be fine if he had to play with the starters. We've only seen him with backups so far.
