Some writers are willing to set journalistic integrity aside for the hope of making a name for themselves.
When it comes to the AD issue, I'm not sure we can point to much in the way of correct reporting beyond the sides haven't come to a deal. Which is about like reporting that the ocean is wet and tastes funny.
This account (Shefter's) is no more accurate than anyone else's. It too is rumor territory. Shefter isn't even good about talking about the figures involved. It's like he's got weeks old info.
And what you're saying is that all we're getting is rumors. Yeah. Which means all accounts have equal standing. Including the ones we each like personally more than others.
DTR: will be done this week
VB: will probably be done the end of August
Schefter: will be done eventually
So Schefter is much more wishy washy (and from his account you can tell he knows less than others too). VB is more definite. I have no idea which is right. I personally doubt DTR but at the end of the day it too is just a rumor like the others and should be taken that way.
But they are ALL rumors. The term "fake news" is way too lofty for that. It's just rumors, and we should KNOW that in each and every case already.
BUT WHAT DO THE RUMORS HAVE IN COMMON?
They're working on it, they're getting it done, they're getting there.
WHICH IS VERY DIFFERENT from last week when some people instead believed the rumor that AD was bailing, that the process was stalled, that he was this greedy player turning down the Rams generous offer, and all of that particular collection of rumor driven stuff.
No, they're working, which means they're compromising, which
I think means that the Rams are offering more than they were and AD's side is coming down from where they were.
