While I do want to see our starters play some so they can get hit and hit someone in order to get their bodies and minds ready for the regular season, I also see the point of playing the backups.
This gives these backups some really good playing time so they CAN get better and ready if they are called upon in the regular season.
What we saw Thursday proved the point that they certainly need the game time.
This game was also game 2 for the Ravens and we had been practicing against them. I think Mcvay decided there is nothing to gain other than what he already saw in the joint practices except to stay healthy and give these backups some valuable playing time experience.
