Re: On the bright side

Over reactive? You bet!! We are football fans. Rams fans!!!! As in fanatics!!!!!!! Reading and writing posts about our favorite football team with emotion is what we do because it is who we are. Of course it's just a practice game. We know we should be scary good this year. We get that the HC is trying to keep our stars safe. It's really probably the best decision. But, what was presented on TV was embarrassing. And the problem is that the last real game our Rams played in was an embarrassing playoff loss to the Falcons in the playoffs. The game before that was treated as another practice game in the hated 49ers huge win to end the regular season. So that's 3 embarrassing losses in a row! Yes, before that we were rolling TG30 was Superman, Goff became a star and our whole offense clicked. The games were fun. I can remember. But, that was some time ago. All this resting and rational have left us rudderless. We need to go back to dominating our opponents. Can we lay down, lose all 4 PS games, making it 6 straight losses and suddenly flip a switch and play as a Super Bowl level? Maybe we can, but I've never seen it down before. It's like our Rams are a race car gearing for the big race. Our mechanics have gone over the car replacing every little part, put on new decals and thrown a cover over it and waited. Other racers have raced their cars. Their drivers gained experience. They saw what parts needed fixing and fixed them. They got better every week and when the big race begins it will be like any other race. When McVay gets interviewed he always talks about getting incrementally better day by day. Each practice is that way. Except he constantly rests his vets in practice. He keeps them out in practice games. His driver, Goff, hasn't taken this refined race car around the track against other cars.
There is a major race. It's in a month. And I don't see how we win by not competing right now. Sure we may take the cover off the car for the media to film and oooh and ahhh. We might even turn on the ignition so we can hear and feel the horses, but keeping it off the track, hoping for no rust and to predict winning the race is a huge gamble.
And now, after years of trying to compete with an 18 wheeler (Fisher's power vehicle) coming on last we finally have a Ferrari. The Ferrari won a lot of races last season and it was exciting. This PS debacle was not. Our Ferrari was parked on the sidelines while their monster truck raced over our parked cars. It was hideous. It darkened my spirit. In Los Angeles, the game was so horrible that the media is again talking about Lebron when not gushing about the Dodgers. Why would anyone want to discuss the PS game? It was too miserably one-sided to be truly discussable. So instead it's a history lesson. Can you remember months ago before this PS, before the long off-season, before the guy-wrenching home loss in the playoffs, before the embarrassing pounding given to us by our arch rivals in the last game, right, before that, weren't we great? Those of us with wonderful memories can recall that. We can smile. We can be better than even that team since we added 4 All Pros. It does all make sense in a rational way. But emotionally? Nah. We are down. Way down. Should we even bother watching the rest of PS? Probably not. We need to wait out the showy partners FA the off season until the real race begins. Hard to do. Very hard.
