Goff is going to have to succeed longer to get the same respect as some other QB's.
That's just the way it is. That first season was so bad, and so many people invested themselves in declaring him not just a bust, but a joke.
Combine that with the change in the team, and coaching staff, and people can find plenty of ways to credit someone or something else besides Jared for the difference.
Aaron Rodgers (I'm not saying Goff is Rodgers) didn't even start until he was 25 and had watched 3 years of pro ball from the bench.
Goff is 23 and will turn 24 in October during his 3rd year at the helm.
The prime years for a QB are generally older than for other positions, unless athleticism and running is their strength.
Most pocket QB's hit their peak between 27 to 34.
That, to me, means Jared Goff might still be 4 or 5 years from being as good as he's eventually going to be.
He'll get there. It'll be great. The respect will come. I'm certain of it.
