So many variables to a football team and a football season. Just for fun, I listed three things that I think are possible but not guaranteed that could really put the rams over the top this season.
1. Sam Shields is healthy and special - At one time, SS was one of the best CBs in football. His health is the reason he was on the market and so reasonable. But lets say he stays healthy, and plays up to his best season. What if Talib and Peters were NOT the best two CBs on the Rams? How dominant could Wade's D be with three of the NFLs best corners, playing with two solid safeties and behind one of the best D Lines in the league?
2. Goff really was the best QB in the 2016 draft. Look, we all knew Goff was young coming out. What if last year was just a taste, and this year he really takes a leap in confidence and competence? What if he just keeps getting better, and is leading an offense that already led the NFL last year?
3. Special Teams Dominate I think most of us would agree the Bones is one of the top ST coaches in the NFL. We already have the best pair of kickers in the NFL. What if Bones takes it to the next level, and we get 4-5 game changing plays from ST on top of a top O and an improving D?
Its fun to think about, isnt it? I could easily do the opposite, 3 things that would cause us to go 8-8 this year (OL injuries would top that list) but I prefer to be optimistic.
