thats the bottom line isn't it?

We all have opinions whether Fisher would have done just fine if he wasn't fired.

The bottom line is that he failed miserably getting the offense to be anywhere near where it is now.

False premise---I never say Fisher would have done well if not fired, that's not the issue. In fact it's irrelevant.

The issue is being factual about what DID happen.

And so I offer my challenge again.

Name the offense that did well when it had extensively injury damaged OLs AND no starting caliber qb MOST of the time.

From 2012 to 2015, how many times did Fisher have BOTH a starting caliber qb and a relatively healthy veteran OL?

Out of 64 games, it had BOTH things a total of...drum roll...13 games.

In fact going 7-9 under those conditions is pretty good. Stands to reason if he had the 2 things for even just 32 games, they would have done better.

It also stands to reason that in 2018 and after, if you demolish the current OL and make them play #2 caliber qbs most of the time, they would not do as well.

I have yet to see any response to that that stands up to simple quick scrutiny. And for that matter, to turn it around, you can assent to the reasonableness of all that and still say that for whatever reason you don't like Fisher.

To me, people who ignore the OL/qb issues are discussing things in a vacuum with no reality to it. I've always felt that way. Going back years. I felt that way in 2007-2009 when the OL was such an absolute mess it took Bulger down with it. Yet at the time there were people who thought the only issue was Bulger.

....

Note the 31-45 Jeff Fisher record as Ram HC in this link below.

Of particular interest are the O stats during his regime. Yardage and points, in particular.

All are facts gleaned from 5 1/2 years with complete autonomy.

Sure, we can rationalize or even make excuses for Fisher’s shortcomings if we want to. As if all teams and all HC’s didn’t also have their own challenges every year.

I tend to believe that things even out over the long haul. And 5+ years is a pretty long haul. Certainly longer than usually given to perpetually losing HC’s.

No way to sugarcoat this. Sean McVay at the age of 32 with only one year under his belt is already 10 times the HC that Fisher was.
