Came across the Rams-Falcons wildcard game replay on NFLN last night. Watched about 1/3 of it. Credit a great game by the Falcons' secondary.

No doubt the Falcons secondary was well prepared and played an excellent game.

I credit the entire Falcons coaching staff for having their team ready to play.

Though it had an impact on the game, I don't buy the Pharoh Cooper fumbles excuses and the Brockers injury as why they lost.

The 2017 Rams got out coached and outplayed and still had opportunities to win that game going into the 4th quarter.

McVay and Goff simply weren't quite ready yet for the big stage and the Rams Defense didn't have enough talent to make a deep Super Bowl run.

It still pains me even after seeing the game a few times.I'm so glad to turn this page and start the 2018 season soon.

OK...well, let's just say that we disagree on this. I'm not surprised at all that McGoff didn't exactly have their best games. As you mentioned, this was their first taste of playoff experience. With that said, neither performed poorly or made any critical errors. Contrast that with the ST's gaffs that, essentially, gifted the Falcons 10 points and forced our defense to play longer than it should have.

And speaking of the defense, I believe the Brockers' injury also played a major role. Did the Falcons gash us in the run game? No, I wouldn't say that. But they were effective enough to take the game out of Matt Ryan's hands and chew up the clock (remember, the Falcons possessed the ball 15 more minutes than we did). Our gassed defense was never able to make that 3rd down stop. Brock not being available was a major reason for that, I believe.

The issue with the run in the second half was time of possession and wearing the defense down while keeping the ball away from the Rams. If you look at the game logs, Atlanta ran primarily to Brockers's vacated spot. That was no accident.

Off-season changes point to 2 other issues. The MIKE/ILB spot and NT. They changed those and hopefully fixed them.

But there is no getting around the fact that in the 2nd half Atlanta ran mostly (by a wide margin) to where Brockers's replacement was playing.
