I have watched a few 2001 games recently---and I
had always thought they were the best offense ever.
However, they couldn't run the ball consistently, not counting draws, almost ever (excepting NFCC games). Ya, Faulk was great, but the interior 3 couldn't get the job done most of the time---game after game you find this forced Warner-Martz into short passes (see the end of the year when Warner got hurt; they could not run against Atlanta...)
Yes, yes, I see Faulk's running stats for 2001--but, watch the games against good defenses.Tampa, Giants and others took away the running game and forced the Rams to pass and they rack up 15 and 17 points...taht is not #1 offense of all time quality....not near it, either. That is why the Vikings in 1998 and Redskins in 1983 were way more consistent and scored more points to boot against quality oppenents.
2017 Rams are funner for me to watch than the 2001 trick you offense...
