Atlantic Ram
Makes no sense for the Rams to just let him sit for a year or two. That's just bad business on so many levels.
I agree with that.
On Bosa though. San Diego has a lot to do with the Bosa holdout. For one thing Bosa missed time during the season because of an injury. He didn't hold out during the season. He signed Aug 24, before the season started. It was not a dispute over money. Under the new CBA players's contract numbers are pretty much slotted and there is very little wiggle room on either side. It's covered by the rookie cap. The dispute was over when he would receive his signing bonus. Every top draft pick before Bosa had received their signing bonus by the end of the year they were drafted. SD wanted an exception with Bosa and wanted him to get the bonus by the spring of 2017, almost a year after he was drafted. The dispute was over Bosa being an exception to precedent on that and getting the bonus later. SD also wanted an opt-out clause that would have allowed them to cut him after his third season and be compensated if another team signed him. Bosa's argument was he would take one or the other--late signing bonus but no team-favoring opt-out clause, or an opt-out clause for the team but he gets his bonus in his first year like every other high-picked rookie.
