Rampage2K-
if a player doesn't want to sign the offer that is made to them, the team can and will use the franchise tag. It's as simple as that.
You cast Donald as the reason for the delay and the poor Rams as just doing the right thing.
BS. We have no idea if that's the case. None.
So reverse your statement because it's equally true/untrue as near as we know.
If the Rams don't want to make a fair offer in the range of Donald's market value and try to force the issue by tagging him, Donald's best option is to demand a trade to a team that WILL pay him. It's as simple as that.Since we actually know nothing, both your statement and my hypothetical re-write of it are equally fictional at this point.
If you can't see that, it;s because you just might be too far down the "blame the player" rabbit hole, so you can't be objective about this.
Right now, based on the info we have, we don't know if the delay is due to the team, the player, both, or neither.
....
I'll take VB, Steve Wyche, Andrew Sciclilano, Mark Dominik and all the other connected people's word over yours seven days a week and twice on Sunday's....
Denial isn't just a river in Egypt....You're assumption is these guys are making things up or have no idea what the market is. If Vinny says the Rams have no problem making AD the highest paid defensive player, I believe it.
I don't blame the player actually, I blame his agent for this ...an agent who is notorious for this kinda thing btw... Donald is just along for the ride.
He's already lost a minimum $15m by going along that ride so far.
So making AD the highest paid defensive player in the game isn't some how "fair market value"?
You keep making up your own market for what you think AD is worth, but the highest paid Defensive lineman is $17m per year. So what is the market??? Are we going to make up a new position for AD and set the Market at $25M per and just bend over and pay it??? It usually doesn't work like that, no matter how amazing you think the player is.
Sorry if you think AD should be set upon a pedestal and paid like a QB, but that is not the market, ESPECIALLY considering he is NOT a UFA.
He can demand a trade all he wants, but doesn't mean the Rams have to agree, just like AD doesn't have to agree to an offer Do you really think AD is going to just sit out and pass on making millions? Highly doubtful IMO
They had discussion on Sirius last month with people who have forgoting more football then this entire board knows about football and all agreed that AD is getting bad advise. Already posted about all the reasons.
Highly doubt it ever even gets close to this though and a deal gets done before the first preseason game.
